And these kinds of cultural organizations curate non-commercial projects.
Calidostópia! is the result of a 10-day, blind-date-esque studio session in Salavdor De Bahia, Brazil. Rapid prototyping + unlimited enthusiasm + working in three shifts = metamelomusical supermerger.
Popp came to Brazil with a vast selection of released as well as unreleased material – and returned with dozens of all-new, beautiful songs.

On 29th of March the experimental label Staubgold is going to release the album “Live At Skymall” by Groupshow.
Jan Jelinek, Hanno Leichtmann and Andrew Pekler have formed a trio that can truly be called a supergroup. As solo artists, all three members are among the most renowned of Berlin’s electronic musicians. When playing together as Groupshow the three instrumentalists – themselves largely informed by minimalist sensibilities – engage with the idiom of free-form collective improvisation, which has a long tradition in Germany dating back to the days of fluxus and krautrock.
“Live At Skymall” was recorded live in Berlin and Lisbon in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Media Loca welcomes new artist on the roster: HTRK

Listen to one of their records and you’ll find yourself slipping deep into their sound world, where the cavernous reverberations of dub techno are mixed with frosted post-punk motifs and the gravelly imperfections of industrial, reimagined in the setting of a dingy basement. The trio formed in Melbourne in 2003 and self-released their debut EP, “Nostalgia”, in 2005. They swapped Melbourne for Berlin in 2006, with a move to London preceding the release of the Marry Me Tonight LP in 2009.
In 2010 founding member Sean Stewart took his own life, halfway through the recording of album number three:
“Work (work, work)” was released a year later, standing as both a tribute to Sean and a testament to the indefatigable spirit of remaining members Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang.
The pair are now back in Australia putting the finishing touches on their next album – their first as a duo – which is set for release in 2013.

“Cover Versions LP” by Andrew Pekler is now available via Senufo Editions & Fantôme Verlag.
Andrew Pekler selected 300 different covers from second-hand records and, using colorful geometric elements to cover over all titles, performer’s names, and label logos, removed traces of the covers’ original contexts.
The sunsets, couples in silhouette, alpine panoramas, roses on pianos, female faces in close-up, and seascapes no longer serve as the packaging for easy listening and exotica.
Instead, the romantic, bizarre and intriguingly bland images of the original covers are free to lend their evocative powers to the record of new music they now house.
