Dub / Electronica / Techno aka Herr Pitzelberger / Laan Unlimited / Niak Started with music in his home town Hamburg in the late-eighties, playing guitar in jaded New-Wave / Post-Guitar-Rock-Bands, followed by small gigs in the local Hamburg club-scene. Beginning of the nineties he started getting contact to the local Reggae scene including first visits of concerts like Dub Syndicate, Mad Professor, Burning Spear etc. followed by jam-sessions with different musicans that more and more went into Dub-Reggae / Experimental. In 1993 he moved to Berlin inspired by the expanding club and music-scene in former East -berlin, where he 1995 founded his own reggae band : "Tribal Notes". The contact to electronic music came by 1996, when he went to his first out-door raves and several Drum'n'Bass partys made by underground crews in unusual East-Berlin locations, with a fresh and unconvential potential. Fenin still did his gigs and songwriting for / with the band, but he went more and more interested into Electronic Dance-Music and producing it. In 1997 he bought his first digital synth and an Atari 1040ST, to get started with beats and samples. The first live appearances took place in 1998 with his friend "Harzkrafthof" in an Downbeat / Dub / Echo-Style, playing in clubs like Maria, Bastard etc. followed by releasing his first track on a compilation done by friends in Hamburg. First DJ-Sets on local partys, spreading the vibe from Dub / Reggae to Minimal / Electro. After moving to his own studio by 1999, he got in contact with Shitkatapult, who put out his first release under anonymous "Herr Pitzelberger" on Hoerzu. First shows in diverse Berlin-Blubs and small techno-events proved his status as an funky and dubby-tech live-act. Two other releases („Container EP", "Done EP") on Shitkatapult came up in 2001 and 2002, followed by the Cozmic-Suckers-Tour around Europe in spring 2002 including a bunch of Shitkatapult artists and DJs. In 2003 Fenin came up with the EP "driven" on Danile Meteos Label "Meteosound", Berlin. On this EP Fenin depends more on his Dubby-Reggae type of roots including a Daniel Meteo remix, that was part of the Wire CD (London). Fenin´s first net appearance on the label "Textone" with the "Live & direct" EP and the response of it was a kickin 4/4 welcome back in 2004. In July 2004 another EP on Meteosound was released, feat. some new material of rootsy electronic-dub and works with roots-singer Gorbi (No-C.I.A.). In September 2004 Fenin went on a little skandinavian tour with "Mitek" founder Mikael Stavöstrand, promoting some new material and the "Hi-Fi-remixes" compilation, that came out in Oktober on Mitek. On Shitkatapults DVD collection "Strike 50" in November 2004 Fenin hit the katapult with his Dub-Stepper “None Of Them“ feat. a video by canadian video artist Jason Mc Farlane. January 2005 started with the "Tour-EP" on the danish label "Echocord" with 4 techno-based tracks. In May 2005 Fenin returned to the hit-familiy, by releasing his first album „Grounded“, opening a wide range from vocal reggae tunes to abstrakt minimal schemes and straight beats. Several live appearances followed such as in Barcelonas Loft, Plock Festival Poland, Publik Services DK, Covo Club Bologna etc. InF 2005 another Echocord EP came up “Backbord“ followed by the second MP3 release on net label textone: “Strada Del Sol“ feat. 4 minimal cuts for the Final Scratch / DJ Posse. 2006 - And No Stop-!!! Several live appereances followed again through Spring / Summer 2006 like Shitparade, Culture Box, Le Tryptique, Watergate, etc. and the Fall ended up with some dubby excursions again with Fenins Third EP for Echocord, “Black and White“. Highlight by the end of 2006 was Fenins first appeareance in russian captial Moscow along the Deep Mix/ Shanti Crew. 2007 - Where Is The Sense? ...after a lot of personal shit and financial problems of being musician and self employed and being tired of Berlins carusell surfaced club scene this year was not a year of production then more of thinking and drawing plans. Nervertheless two collaboration EPs came up featured Berlins wellknown club-act „Der Dritte Raum“ together as Laan Unlimited and LA producer K. J. Gibbs aka [a]ppendics shuffle for Berlin based label “Eintakt“. After summer first sessions followed for an idea of a new Fenin album beginning of 2008. The album got good press reviews and various live shows on F.E. Elletrowave (Italy), Lowlands Festival (Netherlands) and Overground Festival (Switzerland) followed during summer. In October 2008 time was ready for extending networks in starting an own label named : “Dock“. The first 12“ was released under moniker „Niak“ pending between a classic Dub-Techno stomper on side a and an experimental breaked-up Dub piece on side b of the record. 2009-Techno Is Dead!!! In January this year Shitkatapult released its 100 th release... A superb massive collection of ambient tracks from friends / labelheads on two CDs an a triple vinyl feat. also a Fenin shuffeling ambient piece called „Lastkahn“. In spring the idea for a Deadbeat / Fenin record for Echocord began to grow and after some sessions and fights they came out with two trippin versions for the Echocord colour-series in July ("Romeo Kalimba").
